LET'S WORK TOGETHER
I have been successfully marketing community theatre for years. Whether I was developing the brand of an organisation or promoting a show, I had to build techniques and strategies that allowed me to get the biggest bang for the smallest buck. I had to do it with little behind the scenes fuss and have the flexibility of a gazelle because volunteer organisations don't necessarily have strong administrative structures.
I work with you to get beyond the 'tactics' of social media, helping you to build an effective, long term marketing strategy that lets you build great relationships with audiences, your local community and creatives. Your marketing should communicate your values, personality and sense of humour, all while building loyal ticket buyers and happy members who feel excited to be a part of your organisation.
Sounds good, right. So why haven't you been doing this all along?
If you've been doing your theatre organisation's marketing for even a little while, these statements might feel familiar.
You think you lack the skills to market effectively.
You have a day job - you don't have time for another one.
You lack the systems to get everything done.
You're not sure that what you're doing is having any impact.
You don't want to waste your organisation's money.
HERE'S THE TRUTH ABOUT MARKETING THEATRE
Your visuals matter
Your promotional images are the foundation of your marketing.
Get them right and you create enormous credibility with potential audiences and journalists. Get them wrong and you will struggle to be taken seriously.
Are you that person
If all you're doing on social media is asking people to 'buy tickets', you're missing out on its potential. Social media is a loud speaker for your theatre company so what are you projecting out into the world?
Go wide baby
Your goal is to be a familiar name that has credibility in the minds of potential audiences and creatives. This doesn't happen without a wide strategy, on and offline. You also need to stop relying just on other creatives, your family and friends to buy tickets. There's a whole world of people in your community that have never heard of you and want to spend their money on local entertainment.
This is not a quick fix
Marketing is constant and long term. The less lead up time you have, the more expensive it is to promote your show. You need a plan that makes the most of your volunteer hours, budget and makes you feel confident that your efforts are having an impact.
SO WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
I collaborate with you to develop simple marketing systems that can be managed by volunteers. The first thing we should do is get together for a discovery session. We'll look at what you're doing, what you want to achieve and what you'll have to do to make it happen. While you're here, check out the services I offer you and start dreaming about what we could achieve for your theatre organisation in the next year.
