I'm Sherryl-Lee Secomb, a marketer helping community theatre organisations promote their creativity without burning out or wasting time on tactics that don't work in volunteer organisations.
I've been on stage since I was fifteen, I direct large scale musical theatre productions in South East Queensland and have served on the management of one of Queensland's largest community theatre organisations.
In other words, I get you. With my deep knowledge of the community theatre world and many years of marketing it - successfully - you no longer have any excuse for hiding your 'extraordinary'.

A passionate advocate for community theatre, I created the blog, An Idiot On Stage, in 2014, purposed to “encourage and equip community theatre to expect more and be extraordinary”. I challenge my beloved theatre community to be strong and courageous, fierce and compassionate. Most importantly, I love to be a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously; to be An Idiot On Stage.
As a marketer, I help theatre creatives to understand that in order to succeed in their marketing, they must learn to disrupt their online space, confidently sharing who they are and what they do. Without disruption, they will go unnoticed in a sea of great theatre.
Disruption means to do the unexpected and be yourself but I find that many creatives struggle with this most necessary element of marketing. What does it look like to confidently present yourself without feeling like a prat?
