I can still remember my very first opening night in the ensemble of Half a Sixpense for Savoyards Muscial Theatre in Brisbane. I was 15 years old and a desperate mix of wanting to be seen and at the same time hiding in the back. Over the next 30 years, I was fortunate to work with amazing people and perform in many musicals, creating roles I have loved, including Miss Adelaide (Guys & Dolls), Mrs Meers (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof) and the Australian premiere of Bernstein's 'MASS' with QPAC and the Queensland Conservatorium.
These experiences and people helped me develop the confidence to take many opportunities, to be courageous and to find the absolute joy in everything I did. Since 2010, I have directed and developed a number of major musical theatre productions in Brisbane, Queensland. My joy now comes from 'seeing' that person who hides in the back, collaborating with them to develop their confidence to step out into their own light.
My directorial career began with a production of Carousel (Savoyards Brisbane, 2010), and later working with professional Directors, David Williams (Miss Saigon, Savoyards Brisbane, 2011) and Jason Ward Kennedy (The Phantom of the Opera, Savoyards Brisbane, 2013).
In 2014 I directed a community production of The Phantom of the Opera for Ipswich Musical Theatre Company, a production which received an Australia Day Award for Best City-Wide Community Event of the Year. Since then, directing credits have included How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (Savoyards Brisbane, 2015), the Queensland amateur premiere of Nice Work If You Can Get It (Savoyards Brisbane, 2016), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Phoenix Ensemble, 2017), Chicago (Savoyards Brisbane, 2018) and Kinky Boots (Phoenix Ensemble, 2020).
These productions have received a total of 12 Del Arte Charts recognitions.
